THE WINE GROWER:

Alfredo
Maestro

Surrounded by old vines, as if he were part of that environment, Alfredo listens in silence to the language of the vines and the soil in which they grow. A perfect symbiosis between man and nature. A metaphysical dialogue between the winegrower and the vine.

The land where i was born

Parcels: There are a multitude of small plots of a few square meters up to one hectare. Currently, 3 “Parcel Wines” are produced: La Asperilla, La Olmera and La Guindalera; and 2 “Village Wines“: Torrecilla del Pinar and Cuevas de Provanco.
Soils: They are mainly the three that dominate the valleys of the Douro, limestone in the paramos, clays on the slopes and gravels in the valley bottoms.
Varieties: Always autochthonous since practically all the vineyards are old or very old (Tinta Fina, Garnacha, Albillo Mayor, Garnacha Tintorera, Bobal, Monastrell, Malvasia riojana).
Height/orientation: From 998 meters to 700 meters above sea level (msm).
Vineyard average age: 60 years.
Working techniques: mainly biodynamic or no intervention (depending on the year), traditional thumb pruning with two buds, ground cover whenever possible, straw mulch and biofertilizers.
